Living Planet Aquarium

My friend Chanelle told me about the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy, so we decided to take the girls on Saturday. I know, who knew we had an aquarium in the desert? It was kind of like we were on a vacation, seeing all of these beautiful fish. We snagged Grandma Sherri and Papa Dave on the way there; the girls were so excited. I was a little skeptical when we pulled into the parking lot. It is in the middle of a suburb and is housed in an old craft store. Everyone looked at me like, 'are you sure this is going to be good?' When we walked in the interior was completely different from the exterior.

The aquarium had jellyfish, which are really like the weirdest animal to me. Don't get me wrong they are beautiful, but they are still a little fishy. Ha ha get it? At least I think I am hilarious. Lillian liked when the lights made the jellyfish turn pink.
Next was the octopus, which was my favorite. It was so cool. The girls were a little freaked, but when Lillian realized it couldn't get her she became more interested. Isabelle still wanted nothing to do with it; she was terrified. Unfortunately, I guess we didn't get a picture. You'll just have to imagine it.
There were tanks and tanks of beautiful fish and coral. It was a little refreshing, almost like being at the ocean. Too bad we had to go outside into winter again.

There was also a large open tank with sting rays. The girls were very skeptical about touching the rays. They were okay with just looking at them from a distance.

At the end they had a rain forest exhibit with animals you could touch. I was thinking that would be really cool until we walked in and realized it was a display of the creepiest animals on the planet; all together, right in front of you. They had this HUGE snake. The girls even petted the snake, I was very proud. I am not so scared of snakes but I hate spiders and they had a huge, furry tarantula. They also had a cockroach the size of a small mouse, and a very large scorpion. No thank you, I think I'll just go back to the jellyfish. They seemed so nice and cuddly after the rain forest exhibit.

If you are ever in Sandy around 106 S. you should go the aquarium it was tons of fun!

That looks like a fun activity. I'm sure it was a great way to escape the lovely Cache Valley winter.

Sounds like you had a good time.... We talked about going there while we were home and just never did it. We will have to jump on that the next time we are home. Keep in mind that if you want a REAL escape from the winter, I have a great place for you to visit!!:)
