Camera Fun / Ice Cream Night

Last Saturday Kevin took Lillian fishing in Logan Canyon. After a few minutes of fishing she got bored...She said she wouldn't have gotten bored if Kevin had brought some treats, namely gummy worms. How can you fish without gummy worms? After they got home we were going to go get some ice cream but they were a little tuckered out and so we had an in-house ice cream night. It was lovely actually. Dreyer's Slow Churned Double Fudge Brownie ice cream with tons of toppings; yum! After ice cream we were watching a show when Isabelle got the camera out and started snapping pictures.
Then Lillian started snapping some.
Then Isabelle started snapping a few too many of Lillian and she started to get a little angry...
Then she got even angrier but Isabelle kept on snapping.
Eventually the photo session ended with nice feelings after a little parental intervention. Letting the girls loose with the camera always produces some very entertaining pictures.

Please Can I Have Some Chickens?

Lillian's kindergarten teacher decided to raise some baby chicks in the classroom. What a great idea, right? Baby chicks are adorable, to look at, not to own. This said teacher told the kids that if they had a farm or a chicken coop they could take one of the baby chicks home. Now I really do love this teacher, but are you kidding me?! Lillian of course, came home begging us to get a baby chick. We used our best negotiating with a 5 year old skills, but nothing worked. Kevin had the very smart idea to have her write down questions to ask 2 of his coworkers, who own chickens, on how to raise chickens. So she did (she's holding her questions in the picture) and she did really well on it, we were very impressed. Not impressed enough to give in though. These two kind ladies responded to each one of her questions, 'how do you clean up their poop?', with very thorough responses, 'chickens are very messy you have to change their straw often'. We were grateful for their honesty and we assumed she would end her pleading because chickens sound like a lot of work! After we read the responses she says, "So when are we going to get the chicks?" Um, never.

WAC Tournament 2011 - St. George and Las Vegas

This year we decided to go to the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas to see the Aggies play. We went with our good friends Rick and Tara Weinert. Rick's parents own a vacation home in St. George so we stayed there for two nights before heading to Vegas and can I tell you, it was Heaven. We went from snow and cold to warm and beautiful. I woke up the first morning and said hello to Kevin and then I walked outside on to the patio to sit in the sun. We ate breakfast outside, then the men went golfing and Tara and I went for a walk. Then for the rest of the day we sat outside reading, talking, and eating. It was lovely! That night we went out to dinner and a movie. I adore my girls, love them to pieces, but it was so nice to have a little break! The next day we headed to Vegas. Kevin and I had only ever stopped in Vegas for lunch on our way to San Diego. Wow! Vegas is crazy.

On Friday we went to the Aggie game, which they, thankfully won. It was such a fun game. The next day we did a little shopping.

Tara and I had been excited about H&M for the entire trip!
That night the game was so much fun! It was close but that made it interesting. There were tons of Aggie fans; it almost felt like a home game.

Thankfully the Aggies pulled through with a win! What a fun game! After the game we went back to St. George.

I was soaking up the sun until the very last minute. Kevin had to come and tell me it was seriously time to leave.
We had tons of fun! It was a great getaway from the cold in the north and go and see the sun. I am so ready for spring.

President's Day 2011 - Island Park

Chinese New Year 2011

For the third year in a row we hosted a Chinese New Year party. It is now one of our favorite family traditions. It is a great excuse to learn a little bit about Chinese culture and eat some yummy Chinese food. Isabelle was my big helper that day.
It was such a fun night with our friends. We just ate and visited and ate some more. The food was delicious!
Our kids are thankfully, good friends too. They had their own table with paper on it for a little art project before the food was ready.
Here is the spread. Just remembering the food is making my mouth water. That night a huge snowstorm hit. When it was time for everyone to leave there was 6 inches of snow when there hadn't been any. It was such a fun night.

Valentine's Day 2011

What's Valentine's Day without some pink heart shaped pancakes to show your family how much you love them?
Plus, pancakes are just behind noodles are the girls' favorite food.
The girls both got new shirts, a necklace, and a sticker book.
They wasted no time playing with their books.
That night Kevin came home with a dozen red roses for me and a rose for each of the girls; how sweet is that?
Then we had a loud, romantic dinner for 4.

Kevin's Birthday and Homecoming

Kevin was in Europe for 2 weeks. That's right 2 weeks. Wow were we excited to have him home. My mom came and stayed with us for the last week so that made it fun, but we sure missed him. We went to the airport to welcome our man home. We could hardly wait.
I didn't catch the reunion on tape because we all just ran to him to hug him. He had to come home for his birthday! How crummy is that? After we picked him up we headed to my parents for a birthday party. We had Mandarin for dinner, Yum! And better than sex cake for dessert, Yum!

As you can see Isabelle enjoyed herself some chocolate cake.
