Smithfield Health Days & My First 10K

Smithfield is Utah's 'Health City' so our town celebration is called Health Days. Back in February my aerobics instructor, Leigh, had this crazy idea that we should all run the Smithfield Health Days 10K. I thought no way, but I looked at the training schedule and I thought maybe I could do it. So I began training and decided to run it.
Before the race I was really nervous! This was my first race and I didn't know what to expect.
I convinced my brother Steven to run the race with me.
Here was our cheering section. Kevin had to leave to go to class but his parents were kind enough to come to the race and help watch the girls. Yu Ling also came to cheer us on.
I am not going to lie, this was a hard race! The first half is 3.1 miles up Smithfield Canyon. It is a beautiful run thank goodness because it was really difficult! Thankfully the last 3.1 miles are down the canyon.
My goal was to finish the race in under an hour and I did it in 58 min. I was so excited to have reached my goal.
Steven didn't run for the entire month before the race but he still finished in great time.
Kevin and the girls had balloons and a poster for us at the end of the race.

After the race Lillian and her dance group were in the Parade. She had a lot of candy to throw out at the beginning but by the time she got to us (and we were pretty close to the beginning) she had run out of candy.

Isabelle had a great time with us at the parade. She stuffed all of her 4 pockets and my pockets with candy.
At the park Lillian did a dance with her dance group, but being the great mother I am, I forgot to take pictures, but I did take video. She was adorable. After all the celebrations they took a victory lap around the park in the train. It was a very eventful and fun Health Days -- We can't wait for next year!
