Isabelle's "Interesting" Summer

Isabelle had an interesting month in June. First she broke her right arm falling down the stairs in her Barbie shoes.

Then at my parents later that month, she was jumping on their couch when I told her to stop jumping she jumped one more time and hit the back of her head on their iron banister. I immediately held her and then when I pulled her back from me my arm was all bloody. I looked at her head and she had split the back of her head open. It was so sad! We took her to instacare where they put 5 staples in her little head. It was seriously so difficult to watch her in pain it was awful! She was such a little trooper, I was so proud of her!

Just a few weeks later Isabelle started telling us her pee pee hurt. I took her into the doctor and found out she had a really bad bladder infection, that was actually a urinary tract infection. Because she is so young to have a bad UTI she had to be tested for kidney reflux.

First they just did an ultrasound of her kidneys, which thankfully looked great. Then she had to have a VCUG test. They had to put a catheder in her and while they watch on an x-ray machine, they fill her bladder up with dye. They try to see if the dye goes into her kidneys, which it did. Which means she has kidney refluz. I thought the staples in her head was bad, the VCUG was so much worse. It was horrifying. I don't want her to have to go through it ever again, but she does in another year, and I hope next time it won't be as bad. The test was awful, she didn't understand why they were hurting her. I was so glad when it was over. Thank goodness children are resilient.

I couldn't imagine having a really sick child, it would be so difficult. Thankfully with Isabelle, for now, she takes a low dose of antibotics once a day and hopefully she will grow out of the kidney reflux soon.

Don't worry we are not done yet. In August she had hand foot mouth disease, and had sores in the back of her throat, but luckily none on her hands or feet. Then she had another UTI. Poor girl!

So that was Isabelle interesting summer for injuries/sickness. Not a lot of fun for her but she stuck through everything so well. I am really proud of her cheerfulness and spunk. She never was super cranky or irritable, like I would have been had I been her. She is such a fun girl.
