Please Can I Have Some Chickens?

Lillian's kindergarten teacher decided to raise some baby chicks in the classroom. What a great idea, right? Baby chicks are adorable, to look at, not to own. This said teacher told the kids that if they had a farm or a chicken coop they could take one of the baby chicks home. Now I really do love this teacher, but are you kidding me?! Lillian of course, came home begging us to get a baby chick. We used our best negotiating with a 5 year old skills, but nothing worked. Kevin had the very smart idea to have her write down questions to ask 2 of his coworkers, who own chickens, on how to raise chickens. So she did (she's holding her questions in the picture) and she did really well on it, we were very impressed. Not impressed enough to give in though. These two kind ladies responded to each one of her questions, 'how do you clean up their poop?', with very thorough responses, 'chickens are very messy you have to change their straw often'. We were grateful for their honesty and we assumed she would end her pleading because chickens sound like a lot of work! After we read the responses she says, "So when are we going to get the chicks?" Um, never.

That is hilarious!!! My sister's husband has wanted chickens for a while and she finally gave in a few weeks ago. The chicks only stay cute for like a week, and then they are ugly and nasty... Not sure if that will help. But, you could always tell her that she can go visit their chickens when you come to visit Grandma Sherry. They live right there in the WB... just sayin.
