Mullen Family Camping Trip 2011 and the 24th of July Weekend

Almost every year we get together with Kevin's siblings for a camping trip. This year we went to Newton Dam. It was a lot more fun than I think we all expected. We swam, fished, swung on a rope swing, shot clay pigeons, had camp fires, made homemade ice cream, ran in a race, went to a parade, had breakfast in the park, went to the town celebration, and played in a volleyball tournament. All in one weekend! I'll tell you what, the Mullen's can pack in the fun.
Kevin on the rope swing.
Since Kevin went, I had to go too!
And since we went, Lillian decided to go too! Can you believe it? We couldn't either. She got up to do it twice and then decided against it. Then she got up to do it a third time and she did it. All of us were so proud of her!
Go Lillian!
After the rope swing they decided to go shoot clay pigeons. Audrey brought her pink BB gun so the girls decided to have a go at it.
The next morning was the Newton Dam Run. Lillian wanted to run the 1 mile with me and I wanted to run it with her but I wanted to do the 5K with Mick too. So I ran the first 2 miles of the 5K with Mick and Lillian was waiting for me at the 1 mile starting line and we ran the last mile together.
Here she is doing her 'warm up' exercises.
Most of the family ran either the 5K or the 1 mile. It was so fun to run a race with the family.
After the race we went to the park for breakfast and then to the Newton 24th of July Parade.
After the parade we went to the town celebration at the park.
They had races for the kids by age group. Isabelle was first!
Go, Isabelle Go!Next it was Lillian's turn.
Lillian won her race! She even got a gold medal! Go Lillian! She had quite the weekend.
The park had a gigantic slip-n-slide. It was a super hot day so the kids flocked to it.
Some of the family along, with the Maughan family, played in a volleyball tournament. They did awesome!
We had a great time with the family! I don't think we could have packed in any more fun in the weekend.
