Lake Powell!!! I went at least once a year growing up and but I hadn't been since I was married, 9 years ago! Oh Lake Powell, I've missed you. Have you missed me? I think you must have because you delivered a beautiful welcome back week. Thank you Lake Powell, Thank you.
The girls didn't know what they were getting into going to Lake Powell but they were excited; I mean look at that grin and the shades!
We went with Grandma Sherri and Grandpa Dave, Uncle Michael, and Aunt Sarah. My parents rented a mobile home, which was so nice, for us all to stay in. Can I just tell you how much better it was to stay in that than to camp! We each had our own rooms, air conditioning, 2 bathrooms, and a huge kitchen and living room. It made everyone happy to have a shower and a clean bed to sleep in.
Michael and Sarah knee boarding together.
The girls LOVED that Grandpa let them help drive the boat.

Oh it was good to be back.
If you have ever been to Lake Powell you know that it is HOT! Every hour or so we would have to stop and take a swimming break to cool off. The girls are usually very timid about jumping into a lake but not at Lake Powell. I don't know if it was because they were so dang hot or if it was that the water was so incredibly warm! It was like a bathtub I kind you not.
As soon as we unloaded the cars we were out on the Lake and it was as beautiful as ever. Kevin got right up on the wake board and couldn't resist showing us his guns...
The girls loved swimming with Grandma and Grandpa. Even though they had their life jackets on they had to also have 2 noodles each.

The second day we were there we made our way down to Rainbow Bridge. I am always in awe of Rainbow Bridge, every time I see it. It is just break taking. Plus it was a hot little hike to get there, so maybe I was just out of breath because of that?

Right by Rainbow Bridge the park ranger pointed out a dinosaur track in the rock. How cool is that? Especially cool if you are 4 and 6.
The next morning Lillian was feeling very brave and agreed to try wake boarding with Michael.
Doesn't she look so cute and little out there? We were so incredibly proud of her. It was definitely out of her comfort zone but she tried it and she ended up loving it!

I tried so hard to be brave and 'get air' on the wake board (I'm a little bit of a wimp). Here was my best attempt. I know it wasn't very high, but it is high for me!

Kevin, Lillian, Michael, and Sarah hiked up and went through the crack in the wall. I've twice before so I stayed with Isabelle. At the end of the crack is a cliff you can jump off. My Dad said once when he and my brother Steven were there, Steven was a little scared to jump off the cliff (the water was down so it was higher that year). He said, 'Dad you are going to have to push me.' My Dad said, 'OK,' and pushed him as hard as he could to get him as far away from the cliff as he could. My Dad said on the way down Steven is yelling, 'NOT YET!' As soon as he came up he said. 'what was that? I wasn't ready!!!' We were crying we were laughing so hard at that story.
Lillian and Kevin went out the other way and swam to the boat, but Michael and Sarah were up for a little cliff jumping, the crazies...
Sarah needed a little coaxing before she made the plunge. I don't blame her it was high!

We had such a fun water rocket ride! It was funny because we were all so tired from everything else we had been doing that we couldn't haul ourselves back onto the rocket when we fell off.

Sarah and I both finally figured out how to do a 360 on the knee board thank you very much. It has only taken me like 20 years. I told you I was a wimp.
We also got Lillian to try the knee board, kind of. As long as we were going 5 mph we were good. Any faster and there were tears. So 5 mph it was.

Kevin and I even knee boarded together. It was actually quite romantic, especially when he sprayed me. No one can say he doesn't know how to show the love.

There were these boils of fish all over the place, where the stripped bass would force the shad to to the top of the lake and jump out of the lake to get them. It literally looked like the lake was boiling. I was in the water and the fish started to boil like 50 feet away, um get me out of there. Kevin the fisherman was going crazy, we went from boil to boil trying to catch fish, which he and Michael did.

Sarah and Kevin got up on skis for the first time at Lake Powell. I tell you, Lake Powell is a magic place.
I couldn't resist getting out on the wake board, one last time...
And we convinced Lillian to get out on the wake board with Michael one more time. We actually promised her dinner at Firehouse if she went. We aren't above bribery.
But look at that grin. She was happy she went once she got out there. I tried to wake board with Isabelle but I almost drowned her. It didn't go well at all. It'll be a miracle if she tries to wake board ever again.
Everyone was a lot tuckered out by the end of the trip. We wake boarded, knee boarded, water rocketed, swam, skied and ate to our hearts content. It was a fabulous trip! On the last night there was the huge thunder storm, huge. We all went out and watched it and it was lovely to not be camping. Thank you, thank you Mom and Dad for the trailer!
