Mullen Family Camping Trip 2008

Every year we go camping with Kevin's siblings and their families. This year we went camping up Logan Canyon. It was so pretty and we had a lot of fun.

Up Logan Canyon there is this pretty little high mountain meadow with a lake called Tony Grove. It's a favorite spot of ours in Logan Canyon. Here is Kevin pulling Isabelle with Jaygen and Pace.

Lillian got tired of walking around the lake so she got a ride from Dad.

While we were on our walk around the lake Lillian and Madelyn started holding hands. How cute is that? When they were small they weren't the best of friends, but as they've grown a little bigger they play great together. They and Claire played together the whole camping trip. I am so happy Lillian has cousins she loves to play with. My cousins are still some of my favorite people. I hope she will be lucky enough to feel that way too.

The next day we drove over to Bear Lake and the Minnetonka caves. I have never been in a cave in my whole life, so I was really excited. Lillian and Isabelle on the other hand were not that impressed. Like any other 3 year old Lillian thought the cave was interesting for about 30 minutes and then she was done. Isabelle was done long before that. The cave is pretty large and it has like 400 steps so we carried them in a backpack and a front carrier; that didn't go over well. Oh well, I had a fun time.

Can you see their distressed looks?

We got to see some pretty cool things though. After the caves we went to La Beau's for lunch. If you've ever been to Bear Lake you have to go to La Beau's; they have great onion rings and raspberry shakes, yum. Then we headed for the lake.

Isabelle is our water baby. We couldn't get her out of the water, except when she wanted to cover herself with sand. Bear Lake is usually so cold but that day it was surprisingly warm. Isabelle and Pace had fun splashing each other. How cute are those chubby legs. How come chubby legs are only cute on babies?

Lillian and Jaygen had fun hunting for seashells. We had a great time at Bear Lake. It was definitely my favorite part of the camping trip.

That night we did a Dora scavenger hunt for the kids that ended at a pinata of Dora the Explorer. We had a map they had to follow, hidden clues they had to find. We even had Swiper the Fox to which all the little kids got very serious and yelled 'Swiper No Swiping!'

All the kids took turns doing their best to get the candy out of Dora. We started with the youngest, which was Isabelle. She didn't really know what to do with Dora.

We had used the same Dora pinata at Lillian's birthday party but you pulled strings to get the candy out, so Dora was unharmed. So we loaded her up with candy again and let the kids go at it. Lillian traumatized when Dora spilled her guts. She kept saying, "Dora's head came off!" Then her cousins played with the remains of the Pinata and she about lost it. She recovered a little when she saw all the candy.

We had a great camping trip. It was lots of fun! Let's do it again next year.

After we finally got up the VERY bumpy road, it was a pretty fun place to camp. I agree that Bear Lake was my favorite part of the camping trip. We would love to go there again!
