Tri-School Trot / Elk Hunt

Lillian's school did a run this year as their fundraiser instead of selling things. What a good idea right? It was really fun and Lillian thought it was so neat that she got to run in a real race.

Lillian's first lap.

Second lap and still going.

She ran 3 laps and was done. I was really proud of her and she was proud of herself. She wants to run in a real race again.

After the race we went up the canyon to the elk camp. Kevin's elk hunt started the next day and he was so excited. It was like seeing a little boy on Christmas Eve. I still don't understand it but we were happy to be there with him to support him. Kevin's parents and TJ were also there as well as Melissa and her kids.

Lillian found a butterfly on a scrubber. She has been learning about butterflies at school and was so happy to have found one. It was her little friend for the entire evening. In the morning the butterfly was gone and Lillian was so disappointed.

The first night Melissa and I built a fire, by ourselves. A first for me. We were pretty proud.
The second night I built a fire by myself, all by myself. Which might sound lame but it's harder than it looks.
The weather was absolutely perfect; for me that is. It was so warm and lovely. Not so perfect if you were trying to hunt elk. Apparently it's better if it cold because then they come out of the pine trees and you can see them. Otherwise they stay hidden in their trees. Which is what they did for Kevin...the entire week. Sorry Kevin.

The girls loved playing with their cousins.

Look at how dirty they were? I mean seriously I could hardly look at them it gave me such anxiety. But I let them play in the dirt till their hearts content.

I feel really bad that Kevin wasn't able to get an elk; I really did. I was glad we were able to spend some time up there with him.
