Lillian's Birthday, May 2011

It's Lillian's Birthday and she is SO excited. She has been looking forward to this day for a year. Seriously. After the last birthday, she started planning this birthday. Birthdays are the best aren't they? They are, especially when you are 6. My little girl is 6! Unbelievable really. I knew I would fall in love with her as soon as I saw her. When I was teaching high school everyone asked if I would be coming back after I had my baby and my response was, "No, because I know when I see this baby girl I am just going to fall head over heels in love with her and I won't be able to leave her." Which is basically what happened. I would hold her all day long when she was a baby. People told me I spoiled her but I didn't care. She was my beautiful baby girl and if I wanted to hold I could, so I did and I don't regret it because now she is 6! and I can't hold her like I used to anymore.

We don't mess around on birthdays. Wake up, then presents!

For lunch Lillian choose Firehouse; shocking really.

The whole Killen clan (minus Steven) came to celebrate the big day with Lillian.

After lunch it was more presents! I told you we don't mess around, we get right down to the important stuff.

Sarah made the most adorable gift for the girls. It is a memory game with photographs of our family that have been mod-poded onto pieces of wood. They fit into these pockets when you are not using them. It is just so cute and priceless really. We just love it!

We had a big BBQ for dinner and Melissa and Lynn's family joined us.

Birthday cake! My neighbor DeDe makes this divine chocolate bundt cake with chocolate chips; it is chocolate heaven. I was so glad Lillian choose it for her birthday cake.

Lillian choose a Hawaiian Luau for her friend birthday party. We had a fun time finding things for a Luau.

First everyone was greeted with an Aloha! and a flower leis. Then they drew Hawaiian pictures and made flower bracelets.

Then we played hot coconut, like hot potato but with a Hawaiian twist.
Then we headed outside to play the leis toss.

Then we played a hula hoop relay game.

And finally, the pinata!

We had cupcakes with 'sand' (really crushed cookies) and umbrellas; very beachy.

Happy Birthday Lillian! We love you so much! We hope your birthday was everything you wanted it to be.
